IonFlux™ Automated Electrophysiology

Current patch-clamp systems for performing cell electrophysiology are slow, manual, and skill-sensitive; or are extremely expensive and performance-challenged. Fluxion is addressing these limitations by developing the IonFlux Automated Electrophysiology System. This system utilizes a unique microfluidic design to provide automated cell manipulation, trapping, sealing, whole-cell formation, and precise e-field application. The IonFlux system delivers outstanding patch clamp performance in a complete, easy-to-use system. In addition, it offers significant advantages in throughput, compound application, and imaging capabilities.

   Higher Throughput

Up to 16 cell simultaneously, and as many as 6 compounds per experiment.

   Simultaneous High-Resolution Imaging

Obtain additional imaging data during ion channel recording, enabling simultaneous recording of cellular events such as calcium flux or phosphorylation.

  Fast Compound Perfusion

Addition of compound takes less than 10 ms, increasing experimental throughput and enabling recording of ligand-gated channels.

   Cell Selection

Cells can be viewed optically as they enter the trapping area, and desired cells can be selected for trapping.

Fast perfusion.  Microfluidic compound exchange is demonstrated by applying a series of pulses from a high conductivity buffer solution (K ions) to the extracellular space in the presence of open potassium channels.

Up to 15 cells of interest trapped simultaneuosly.
